The pandemic caused a surge in behavioral health needs, putting increased demand on an already struggling system. In response, we’re seeing unprecedented attention on improving behavioral health care in the U.S., from investments in digital health technologies to momentum around legislative action.

But at current course, the industry’s approach is resulting in improvements in access and treatment for some—in particular, well-insured, financially secure, white consumers—while deepening pre-existing inequities for the marginalized groups that already experience the worst outcomes: people of color, people with low incomes, and people with high-acuity mental health conditions.

This year, Advisory Board’s Darby Sullivan and Rachel Zuckerman are leading research on what stakeholders across the industry can do to improve behavioral health outcomes for these groups. Join us for a new Stay Up to Date, where Darby and Rachel will discuss why focusing efforts on the most marginalized populations will improve the system for all.
